For the first time,
the Wackerle Career and Leadership Center will honor November’s
National Career and Development Month. Throughout the month, the
Wackerle Career and Leadership Center will be sponsoring special
career-building events and programs designed to bring awareness to
the many facets of career development and to offer specific advice
to students on how to effectively develop their careers while
providing a fun and entertaining atmosphere.
Events start as
early as Friday, Nov. 2 with a visit to State Farm’s operation
center and corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Ill for
pre-registered students. Other event highlights include the
popular, annual Etiquette Dinner, Students Networking with
Employers and the “What’s Your Type?” Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
presentation.
A special
month-long event is Extreme Makeover: Career Edition. It will
follow Senior Lindsey Nissen as she is subjected to mock
interviews, etiquette advice, personal styling and career
counseling. Lindsey will give a presentation on what her
experience was like and what she learned on Thursday, Nov. 29 at
6:30 p.m. in the Morgan Room. Lindsey’s entire makeover experience
will be broadcast regularly on MCTV.
Students who are
interested in these and other events throughout the month should
visit WackerleTrack at:
www.monm.edu/wackerletrack for a full schedule of upcoming
events. Students are also encouraged to view the Wackerle bulletin
board opposite of Scot’s Market for weekly updates and chances to
win prizes.
National Career and
Development Month is hosted annually by the National Career and
Development Association. The National Career and Development
Center was founded in 1913 with the aim to “promote the career
development of all people over the lifespan.”
