At the end of last
semester, long time Monmouth College Professor Stafford Weeks was
honored when the college named the newly renovated philosophy and
religious studies house.
The house was
restored in over the past year, and the work was finally finished
this past semester.
Weeks taught at
Monmouth from 1959 until his retirement in 1986. Weeks was
involved in many capacities on campus, including both as an
educator and an administrator. Weeks remains in Monmouth and is
often seen at Alumni events.
According to Chuck
Van Anden, a former student of Weeks in the 1970s, “Professor
Weeks was one of those professors that everyone wanted to talk to,
and who students remembered even years after their graduation.”
The donation made
in Weeks’ name goes to show that the long time professor still has
a profound impact on the College to this day. Future generations
of Monmouth College students will now be aware of the impact he
has made on the school.
The donation was
made by Weeks’ former neighbors Harold and Muriel Conger, who had
no other connection to the College.
The Conger’s
donation totaled $150,000.
