Monmouth College
is a campus filled with many student organizations. These
organizations help bring events to campus, upgrade certain aspects
of campus life and offer opportunities for students to get
involved. These organizations encourage interactions between a
diverse number of students from all different backgrounds.
On Saturday, Feb.
9, the Seeking Alliances through Leadership and Diversity (SALAD)
program will be coming to the Monmouth College Campus. SALAD is a
group that provides different workshop experiences for student
leaders on college campuses. The main goal of the SALAD program
is to teach interested students how to better lead and serve a
diverse campus community.
Trained guides
will be sent to the Monmouth College campus to lead students in a
day of different exercises and discussions. These different
discussions and activities will involve topics of stereotypes,
misconceptions, and other various problems that prevent the
numerous and diverse student organizations from cooperating
together. Through this program, students will be taught to make a
plan of action that will keep all the student organizations on
campus working together for a better campus community.
Students will have
the opportunity to get to know some of their peers, who they
otherwise might not have the chance meet, and discuss and tackle
issues that face the College community and other students. Space
is limited for this event, and those wishing to attend should send
a reservation e-mail to lcoghill@monm.edu in order to verify their
attendance.
