Holly Butz is a senior, double majoring in Communications and Theatre Arts (with media emphasis) and Psychology. She calls D-pizzle (Des Plaines, IL) home.

Butz says that her activities at MC include Monmouth College Chamber Orchestra, MC-TV, Ultimate Frisbee, hanging out with Kenny [Weitzmon] and hanging out with friends (imaginary or real).

One of Butz’s favorite professors is Chris Goble “because he puts up with me and has encouraged and challenged me. Thank you Chris!”  She also recognizes Carolyn Suda “because she is such an inspiration and is just Carolyn.”

Additionally, Butz professes a soft spot for the entire psychology department “because no matter how difficult the subject, the professors really know how to make you feel”

She doesn’t hesitate when asked to name her favorite class - orchestra. “I get to express myself through music with such emotions. No matter how I feel, music allows me to get everything out, like a therapy session! I never had that ability before I came here to Monmouth College. Thank you Carolyn.”

Butz’s post-graduation plans can be summarized in one word: weinermobile.  She plans to pursue her dream to be a Hotdogger and drive the Weinermobile cross-country with her “best friend and twin, Sylvia Puckett (who NEEDS a senior spotlight).”

In the long list of things Butz will miss about MC, she mentions “The atmosphere. The weather. The students. The professors. The hills. The smell. The squirrels. The small town. The stars. And Shopko.”

Butz says that her proudest accomplishment is “making Chris Goble proud and when Joe Angotti said that our work on the documentary “Western Stoneware: The Molding of a Company” was the best he has seen on a college level production.”

We couldn’t reach any of Butz’s imaginary friends for comment, but her real friends were happy to share their thoughts. Puckett says about her friend, “Holly has one of the best personalities. She is one of my best friends and she has always been there for me. I love her to death and we will be friends ‘til the end!”

Weitzmon says of Holly: “She is the most amazing person I have ever met.  She fills people’s lives with laughter and randomness.  If she is working on something that she is passionate about, she is 100% into it. She will give everything to make it perfect. Overall, she just has a big heart and touches the lives of those that know her best.”
