Mock Tail Party

Imagine this…

You are at an important social function for your company. This is your first professional job, and you desperately want to make a good impression on your co-workers, especially your new boss. After filing through the appetizer line and filling your small plate with delicious hors d’oeuvres, you spot your boss and his wife making their way over to greet you. With your plate in one hand and drink in the other, you struggle to extend your hand to greet your boss while also balancing these items. Before you know it, those tasty appetizer meatballs are flying off your plate and onto the very expensive looking dress of your boss’ wife.

To avoid embarrassing situations such as this, attend the third annual MOCKtail Party, hosted by the Wackerle Career and Leadership Center, along with co-sponsors ASAP and Wellness. This event will be held on Tuesday, April 15, from 5-6:30pm in the Highlander Room in the upper level of the Stockdale Center. The MOCKtail Party is an extension of the etiquette dinner that is hosted during the fall semester, bringing focus to topics that extend beyond the dinner table. Participants will learn how to present themselves professionally at a social function. Information that will be presented at this event include; conversation starters and introductions, holding your appetizer plate and glass while shaking hands, appropriate dress, and much more. Students who are interested in attending this event must register online through the WackerleTrack Event Calendar (www.monm.edu/wackerletrack) by April 10. A variety of heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served as a meal exchange. This event is not only educational, but is guaranteed to entertain. For more information, your questions can be directed to Wackerle@monm.edu or by calling extension 2115. Come, see and learn for yourself the dos and don’ts of how to act at a professional social function.
