As this school
year begins to wind down, not only do returning students have to
worry about scheduling their classes for next year, but they also
need to set up their housing arrangements. Housing sign-up begins
Monday, April 7 and ends Thursday, April 10.
Whether students
plan to stay in the same room as this year or choose to live
elsewhere next year, there is a process that everyone must go
through. There are also a handful of things that students should
know and should prepare before they are ready to plan their
housing for next year.
All students can
find their housing number at http://department.monm.edu/stuserv/residence-life/housing.htm.
Students should know their housing numbers, because it correlates
with the day they will be allowed to sign up. Take note that these
numbers are different than those printed in the brochures that
were sent out to all students. Students with numbers ranging from
1 to 540 will be signing up on Monday, April 7. Numbers 541 to 700
will sign up Tuesday, April 8. On Wednesday, April 9, students
from 701-900 will be signing up for their rooms. Finally, on
Thursday, April 10, students with numbers from 901 and up will be
allowed to sign up for housing.
When students come
to sign up at their respective times, there are a few other things
to keep in mind. Students should make sure they have their student
ID when they come to register. Also, students who are planning on
signing up with a roommate need to bring that roommate along if
that roommate’s number is lower than their own. Students will line
up outside of the gym according to number. If a student cannot
make it to his or her assigned time, then he or she must fill out
a proxy form, which can be found at the office of Residence Life.
According to
Kathryn Wagoner, associate director of residence life, one
difference between this year and previous years is that, “We have
more 5th year seniors, and we didn’t want them falling through the
cracks, so junior numbers look inflated. Please keep in mind we
have roughly 221 graduating seniors.”
Students need to
keep in mind that they can only sign up with a roommate, not a
quadmate. Also, only pending juniors and seniors can live in
Peterson Hall, Bowers Hall and Founders Village. Students should
not plan on getting a double-single this fall and should be aware
that singles are only available on a “first come, first serve”
basis. There will be no waitlist this year for double-singles. For
further questions or information, contact the Office of Residence
Life at ext. 2113.
