The Monmouth College men’s tennis team has worked hard this year to compile a successful record of 7-3. The Scots next match will be held in Lake Forest, Ill., this Saturday, April 5 against Lake Forest College and Carroll College.

The Scots most recent match was held in Monmouth last weekend. The men won both matches against Ripon College (7-2) and Lawrence University (8-1).

In last week’s singles competition against Ripon, senior Kevin Kamenjarin won his matches 6-2 and 6-3. Junior Eric Brandhorst also won his match in two games, 6-2 and 6-3. Freshmen Sam Graf and Ben Morrow defeated their opponents as well (6-0, 6-0) and (6-0, 6-3), respectively.

In doubles competition against Ripon, the team of Kamenjarin and junior Kyle Korb defeated their opponents 8-0. Brandhorst and Morrow beat their competition 8-5. The freshmen duo of Graf and Tony Castro also contributed, winning 8-3.

In the match against Lawrence, the Scots faired well in singles competition. Korb won both his matches 6-2 and 6-1. Kamenjarin defeated his opponent in three games. Brandhorst dominated his opponent, winning both matches 6-0 and 6-1. Graf won his match in two games (6-2, 6-1), while Morrow also won in two games, (6-2, 6-0).

Monmouth’s doubles teams prevailed in competition against Lawrence University. Kamenjarin and Korb (8-2), Brandhorst and Morrow (8-4) and Castro and Graf (8-1) all dominated their opponent. Overall, in doubles play last weekend, the Scots won all six matches against their opponents.

In the last 10 matches in singles competition, Morrow has won eight. Both Kamenjarin and Graf have received seven wins. In the last 10 matches in doubles competition, the squad of Kamenjarin and Korb has won eight. Castro and Graf are 5-1 together as a team.

The Scots are headed in the right direction as they get ready to take on Lake Forest College and Carroll College. The team has practiced hard in preparation for this weekend’s match-up.

Looking ahead into the Scots’ schedule, the men will host rivals Knox College on Tuesday, April 8. The Scots will also compete against Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. on Apr. 11 before taking on St. Norbert College and Illinois College the next day in Monmouth.
