Monmouth College’s
president Mauri Ditzler was recently elected to the board of
directors of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and
Universities (APCU). Ditzler will serve a three-year term on the
board.
The APCU is an
association with 62 voluntary colleges and universities that have
a historical relationship with the United States Presbyterian
Church. The purpose of the APCU is to assist and promote the
member schools, as well as their respective presidents and staffs,
to strengthen the quality of each institution.
Ditzler’s election
comes in his third year as president of Monmouth College. In 2005,
he was named the 13th MC president. He graduated from Wabash in
1975 and earned a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Duke
University in 1979.
Other positions
Ditzler has held include: a faculty member at Holy Cross in
Worcester, Mass., and the chief academic officer at Milikin
University from 1994 through 1999. Ditzler held that same position
at Wabash College from 1999 to 2005.
Ditzler arrived on
the MC campus during a great time of transition. He has aided in
this process by working to finalize plans for a new business and
science academic building. Ditzler has also championed student
efforts to add a club water polo team and a student-run coffee
shop.
Over the next
three years, Diztler will undoubtedly continue to strive towards
improving the Monmouth College campus, and now he will have the
backing and extra responsibility of working as part of the board
of directors of the APCU.
