A sculpture located in front of the Wells Theatre was vandalized over Fall Break.

The damage was first reported by director of theatre, Doug Rankin on Oct. 19. The sculpture, titled "Outdoor 4-Swinger," was designed by artist Bruce Stillman and given to the college in 2003. The sculpture has four loops that rotate with the wind, creating different effects of positive and negative space.

Now, however, that is not possible because it has been pushed back so far that it has been lifted out of its concrete base.

"The current damage is so severe, I estimate it would have to be taken back to the artist’s studio for major repairs," said Rankin. Rankin and Associate Dean of Students Mohsin Masood, met with Monmouth Police on Oct. 20 to report the incident. Students are asked to report any further information to the Office of Student Affairs
