Deciding on a
college to attend is always a stressful period in one’s life.
However, this was even more so in the case of Megan and Sarah
Zaubi, freshmen twins here at Monmouth College.
"We had two weeks
left to figure out where we were going to school and we didn’t
really know where we wanted to go. So our mom said, ‘Why don’t
you look at Monmouth?’ We applied and got in," said Megan.
"We had never set
foot on campus until SOAR," continued Sarah.
Even though they
decided on Monmouth College at the last moment, both agreed they
were happy with their decision.
Coming from Itasca,
IL, a suburb of Chicago, the transition to Monmouth would seem
difficult, but both Megan and Sarah enjoy it here at Monmouth.
Both enjoy the small campus of Monmouth where they find it easy
to know almost everyone.
"In our high school,
we didn’t know anyone," said Sarah. "You had your circle of
friends and that’s who you knew."
"I like having
classes with sophomores, juniors and seniors," said Megan. "Our
high school was a split campus, with freshmen and sophomores
separated from juniors and seniors."
On top of it all,
Megan and Sarah agreed Monmouth’s campus was beautiful and enjoy
experiencing the campus change with the shift of seasons.
With given free
time, Megan and Sarah enjoy the thrills of rock climbing in the
Huff Athletic Center’s Trotter Fitness Complex. It is their way
of hanging out with friends.
"Some people do
movie nights, we climb rocks," Sarah said.
On top of rock
climbing, Megan and Sarah are both members of the Kappa Kappa
Gamma sorority and work different shifts in the Underground as a
"barista."
Megan and Sarah
share a close sisterly bond, which was evident when they were
asked to describe their hobbies and without missing a beat Megan
replied, "Long walks on the beach… bring a tent."
However, both have a
strong sense of individualism and dislike when others refer to
them as "The Zaubi’s."
"We are our own
people," Sarah commented.
Megan and Sarah both major in
English, with hopes of owning a publishing company together
sometime after they graduate from Monmouth.
