Letter to the Editor: Sportsmanship

By: Coach Steve Bell and John Kaiser
Head Football Coach and ASMC President

Editor’s note: This letter was received by The Courier on Nov. 5, 2009.

     MC Students,

The 121st meeting between Monmouth and Knox football is only one day away. Tomorrow, literally hundreds of you will be making the 20 minute drive to Knox College for the annual Turkey Bowl! It is a huge event that offers an opportunity to show your Monmouth Pride in the Fighting Scots!

At the game tomorrow, it is important that we cheer louder than the opposition, celebrate after every big play, and have FUN!

We are asking you to remember that when you rock your Red and White at the game you are representing Monmouth College. Good sportsmanship is demanded on the field and expected in the stands. The anticipation and excitement leading up to any rivalry game in any sporting event brings some of the best performances out of athletes. Expect nothing less tomorrow and be sure to let the anticipation and excitement bring the best out of those supporting our team. Take pride and represent MC in a positive way. BE LOUD AND PROUD!!

     Go Scots!

     Coach Steve Bell
     John Kaiser
