Monmouth’s County Market is undergoing a major renovation that
not only will make the local grocery store bigger, but has been
exciting Monmouth College students.
County Market has been a local favorite to college students and
residents of the Monmouth area. Michael Clark, the second
assistant manager of County Market, said County Market’s
renovation and expansion should be finished before Thanksgiving.
"There will be a
variety of new things throughout the store," said Clark. "From
our new deli to our great selection of meat and seafood, the
choices are endless."
Sophomore Joseph Kay
does his everyday grocery shopping there and has been pleased
with the store’s selection and prices.
"I wish County
Market was around my house," Kay said.
Senior Daniel
Bansley does not shop for daily groceries at County Market but
feels the expanded store will be a big boost for everyone in
Monmouth.
"I think it will
give the town of Monmouth a bunch of class," Bansley said. He
added that even though he never has been a frequent shopper, he
is interested to see what new things County Market will bring.
Marilyn Wright, a
Monmouth resident, shops for groceries only at County Market.
"I loved the great
selection that County Market had," Wright said. "Now I can’t
wait until it is fully redone."
However, Wright has
one concern about the expansion.
"It will be hard to
find everything now that County Market is so much bigger," she
said.
County Market has
been the only local full-service grocery store since the closing
of Econofoods in July 2008.
