Young men's soccer team eager to start MWC play

 The men’s soccer team learned what they need to work on this week as they get ready to start conference play.
        Last weekend the Scots played on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16. Both games showed off the Scots’ defensive strength, but they feel short of a win in each game.

Why fantasy football isn't as good as the real game

        Fantasy football is pervasive, and I do not like it. Magazines that I read, that I wait for by the door, have pages and pages of fantasy drivel within them. People talk incessantly about their damn fantasy drafts. Fantasy points roll past on the broadcast. I can’t rid myself of fantasy team talk, as much as I try to ignore it.

Cross Country looks to build on last year's success

The Monmouth College cross country team is looking to have yet another successful year underneath the watchful eye of coach Roger Haynes. Although in just his eighth year leading the cross country teams, Haynes has translated his success over from 22 great years with the indoor and outdoor track squads at MC.  Last year the men’s cross country team won the conference championship. Meanwhile, the women’s team placed fifth in the conference.

Women's soccer starts conference play

Last weekend proved to be a challenge for the young women’s soccer team as they fell to Central College on Sept. 15 and tied Coe College on Sept. 16 in the last weekend before conference play.“The team is very young and these first few games have helped us discover our strengths and weaknesses,” commented assistant coach Dick Johnston. MC student seeks to bring Frisbee golf

It seems that just about every weekend if you look out at the parking lots on campus just about half of the campus is gone. Why? Well, the answer that comes out of students’ mouths the most is that there is nothing to do. However, the best way to change this is for students to start demanding for more. The school has recently installed a sand volleyball court behind Graham Hall, but I doubt that will be enough to keep students on campus during the weekends. Read More...


Football improves to 2-0 in MWC
Monmouth plays strong against Beloit College, winning 45-0

The Monmouth College Fighting Scots captured their second win in the young 2007 football season by beating Beloit College 45-0 on Saturday, Sept. 15.  Junior running back Jeff Davis had a statement game for MC as he rushed for 175 yards on 25 carries. The junior also found pay dirt two times.

Fellow MC running back, sophomore Clay Bricker, had 58 yards on only nine carries and also found the endzone on one of his carries. Monmouth’s third string back, junior Casey Orwig, came in for cleanup duty in the fourth quarter and made the most of his time on the field. Read More...
