CAREER PATHS
A large number of students major in Physical Education with the ultimate goal of teaching in
the public and private schools of Illinois and in surrounding states. Students with this goal
in mind take a specific set of courses in the department of physical education coupled with a
prescribed core of professional education courses. Students in this curriculum have an
extremely high placement rate.
The department also
offers a prescribed set of physical education courses for students that do not wish to teach
but wish to work in careers in related areas. Many students with these aspirations ultimately
go on to graduate school or find employment with municipalities, corporations, commercial
enterprises and other similar occupations.
Each year several students also put together a topical major
with physical education courses as a core component. Students couple these courses with
courses in speech and communications, business, computer science, sociology and other courses
of interest. These students may, in many cases, go on to graduate school with aspirations of
becoming a sports management major. Employment opportunities exist in education, professional
and commercial enterprises. |
