Alumni FAQ
How can I get a
transcript?
Requests for
official transcripts must be received in writing with a legal signature from the
student. Emailed requests are not accepted at this time. Letters, faxes, and forms filled out
in person are all accepted ways of requesting a transcript. The requestor must include full
name, dates of attendance, social security number, current address and directions on where the
transcripts should be mailed. Turnaround time is generally 3-4 days.
The cost for official transcripts is $3 per copy. There is an online
payment option.
How do I locate an old classmate/alumnus of the college?
Contact
Terry Hanson (1-888-826-8268 or 309-457-2336) of the Records and Research Office.
To protect the privacy of our alumni, we use the following
procedure:
If the person whom you are wishing to contact has allowed
his/her address to be printed in the most recent alumni directory and has not informed us in
writing that no information should be given, our office will give you the current address. If
we have a good address, but information about that person is not published in the most recent
alumni directory and/or we have instructions in writing not to give this information, the
following procedure may be followed if you are an alumnus(a):
1. Write the correspondence piece you want sent to the person
whom you are wishing to contact.
2. Seal the correspondence in an envelope on which you have placed the NAME ONLY of the person
you are wishing to contact in the mailing address position. Be sure your return address is in
the return address position.
3. Place first-class postage on the correspondence. Letters will not be forwarded without
first-class postage
4. Mail the correspondence (in a separate envelope enclosing a note to us with the class year,
maiden name, and other pertinent information which may be helpful in identifying the person
who are trying to contact) to:
Records and Research Office
Monmouth College
700 E. Broadway
Monmouth, IL 61462
When the Records/Research Office receives your
correspondence, the address of the person you are looking for will be written on the sealed
envelop and sent to person you wish to contact. After the correspondence is sent, it is up to
the recipient to contact you. If you have any additional questions, contact Terry
Hanson in the Records and Research Office.

What Clan does the Monmouth College
tartan originate from?
Until several years ago, the MC tartan was a hunting tartan of the Menzies Clan, primarily for
the reason that it was a simple red-and-white design representing the college colors. The
College had our own tartan commissioned and registered it with the Lord Lyon of Scotland. It
still includes the original colors of red and white, but introduced black to give it added
dimension.
What is the Monmouth
College Magazine?

of Monmouth College. It contains news, features, historical articles, sports, and class notes.

Why does the college want to know my career information
(place of employment and job title)?
Some reasons for requesting such information are as follows:
1. to assist Wackerle Career & Leadership Center with
networking between current students and alumni
2. to assist academic departments in informing their current students of the various careers
of graduates of their departments. This helps the current students in setting their career
goals.
3. to identify campus speakers for campus programs

Why should I support the Monmouth Fund?
As alumni, parents, and friends of the College, your investment in today's students is
appreciated and necessary. Thanks to donations to the Monmouth Fund, the College is able
to offer financial support to hundreds of students as well as competitive tuition rates in
this ever-fluctuating marketplace.
Your contribution to the Monmouth Fund
represents our best hope of providing additional funds to the College on an annual basis. To
give you a basic idea of just how crucial your participation is, it would take an additional
$18 million in annual endowment to provide the same financial resources as the Monmouth Fund
does each year.
By supporting the Monmouth Fund, you are
honoring your wonderful memories of MC, as well as helping thousands of future graduates
create their own. With your help, students will graduate from Monmouth College with a
better understanding of the world around them and possess the tools to change it. Throughout their post-Monmouth successes, they will realize that a part of them will be
forever linked to the College - proving it's not just four years of classes, but that it will
always seem a little like home.
What does the Monmouth Fund do?

What is a matching gift?
Many companies nationwide offer a matching gift program that will multiply the amount of
your gift. By simply stopping at your employer's human resource department (or that of
your spouse's) and picking up a matching gift form, you can sometimes double or even triple
your gift. Most applications are easy to fill out, and when you return it with your
donation, the company you represent will also honor MC with a gift in your name.
What if my gift isn't as large as I would like to make
this year?
Every gift, regardless of size, makes a difference because it determines our alumni giving
percentage. Foundations and corporations monitor this benchmark as an indication of
alumni satisfaction, and often determine the amount of their gifts to the College based on the
amount of alumni support. Alumni giving percentage also contributes to Monmouth
College's ranking by third-party endorsers such as US News & World Report, which is an
important tool used to attract students.
What are the different ways to make a gift?

Online Donation
