
Joan Rezner Gundersen

Recognized by historians as one of the pioneers in the field of Woman's
History, Joan Rezner Gundersen was one of the first American Academics to
offer serious study to the role of women in creating American Society.
After graduating from Monmouth College in 1968, Gundersen went on to receive graduate degrees from the College of William and Mary and the University of Notre Dame. She taught history at St. Olaf College from 1975-1989 and was one of the founder's of woman's studies there.
In 1989, she was one of the funding faculty members of California State University at San Marcos where she helped to draft the institution's mission statement and design the curriculum. She has also been published widely in journals, books and encyclopedias.
