Patricia J. Hofstetter began her distinguished legal career in 1951 when she was one of the only two women to graduate from the law school of the University of California.  Appointed judge of the Municipal Court Whittier Judicial District in 1963, she was named in 1976 the first woman president of the California Judges Association.  She has been active in several legal and civic organizations.
