The former highest ranking United States Marine in
Iraq and a member of the senior leadership of the Marine Corps, Major
General Stephen T. Johnson began his military career immediately
following his graduation from Monmouth College in 1972. After completing
the basic school, he embarked upon a long and distinguished military
career, commanding troops throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
A graduate of Amphibious Warfare School, the Defense Language Institute,
the Spanish Naval War College and the U.S. Army War College, Johnson has
been decorated with the Defense Superior Service Medal and two Awards of
the Legion of Merit.
