Makoto Tsuda enrolled in Monmouth College in 1939 and graduated amid U.S. hostilities with his native Japan. Following World War II, he was employed by the Noritake China Manufacturing Company in Japan. For 18 years he served as a representative for Noritake in New York, Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.  In 1975, he was named President of Noritake Ireland Ltd. He returned to Japan in 1981 where he served on the Board of the Parent Company and later as an adviser.
