The single most important element of a graphic identity system is the logo,
which is the graphic representation of the institution. The
Monmouth College logo incorporates an image of our flagship building,
Wallace Hall, with a bold rendering of the college's name, either below
or beside the image.
Please consider
the following Monmouth College logo guidelines:
- No
other symbols are permitted in place of the Monmouth College logo. In
certain circumstances, special logos and seals may be used in
conjunction with the college logo, but should not take visual precedence
over the college logo.
- There
is only one Monmouth College
logo. Departments and other affiliated organizations are not to
create personalized logos. The preferred method for identifying a
department or organization is to render the department or program name
in type (a sans-serif face such as Helvetica or Arial) below the
Monmouth College logo.
- The
logo should always be used on stationery and other documents that
represent Monmouth College. In certain instances, such as on legal
documents and diplomas, it may be preferable to use the college seal in
place of the logo. In general, however, the seal and logo should not
appear in tandem on the same document.
- The
logo should appear on all college publications (including
advertisements, flyers, posters, brochures, etc.). Whenever
possible, the logo should be placed on the front cover of a booklet or
brochure. If
good design does not allow such placement, the logo should at least
appear on the back cover.
- The
logo must remain consistent in reproduction. If you are unfamiliar with
the resolutions required for printing or have other technical questions,
please contact the Office of College Communications.
- The
logo may not be distorted or skewed in any way. Its proportions must
remain exactly as supplied.
- The
logo may not be reproduced in any fashion that renders any portion of it
illegible. The minimum reproduction size for this logo is ¾"
(4 picas) in height.
- The
logo is designed as a complete wordmark. The cupola mark may only
appear alone in certain cases. The text of the logo must always be
accompanied by the cupola mark, either below or to the right of the
mark.
- If the
logo is to be used in color, the letters in MONMOUTH are to be in red
and the remainder of the logo to be in black or gray. Whenever
possible, Pantone colors should be employed. They are PMS 201 (red) and
black or PMS 401 (gray.) When printing on uncoated stock, PMS 193
may be substituted for a more brilliant red. The logo may also be reversed in white against
a black or colored background.
- The
logo is meant to be used singly, never in a series or as part of a
larger design. Neither the cupola mark nor the type may be distorted
proportionally. The name has been spaced to complement the logo and to
maximize readability. No other type style should be substituted;
neither should the spacing or kerning be changed.
