Monmouth College Annual Fund
Monmouth College
aspires to build its national reputation and visibility. The
college must go beyond having excellent facilities and a
growing enrollment. It must continue to advance its academic
quality by attracting and retaining highly talented faculty
and enhancing academic programs. To achieve this aspiration,
Monmouth will need substantially increased financial
resources that can only come from private gifts.
To better
support academic excellence, scholarships, faculty
development, and student activities, college leaders and the
Board of Trustees have set a goal to double the Monmouth
College Annual Fund, which recently topped $1 million for the first time
ever. The plan is to raise $2 million each year—an ambitious
target, but a level of annual giving regularly achieved by
many liberal arts colleges considered to be peers of
Monmouth.

Gifts to
the Annual Fund from alumni, parents and other friends
provide the "margin of excellence" for the college.
Unrestricted gifts establish a flexible pool of funds
essential for sustaining the day-to-day operations of the
college. This money helps the college provide financial
assistance to students and take advantage of opportunities
as they arise.
Some
restricted gifts are also counted in the Monmouth Fund;
these gifts are designated by donors to support their
favorite academic department, program, the fine arts,
athletics, the library, etc.
(Note: Major
gifts for buildings and endowment funds, and
planned/deferred gifts and bequests, are also vital to the
success of Monmouth College. Major and planned gifts are
counted toward the institution’s overall development and
capital campaign goals, but only annual gifts are counted
toward the Annual Fund goal.)

Our faculty and staff.
Your gifts help pay the salaries and benefits of
employees, enabling Monmouth to attract and retain
exceptional faculty and staff. By maintaining small
class sizes and student-faculty ratios, faculty can
engage students in active learning, discussion,
field study and research.
Our alumni. As the
alumni participation rate and annual giving
increase, more resources are made available to
further improve the quality of a Monmouth education.
This builds Monmouth’s reputation and the value of a
Monmouth degree. The Monmouth College Annual Fund also enables the
college to expand communication and services for
alumni, including Monmouth College Magazine, class
reunions, events and receptions around the country,
group travel programs, etc.

Donating
appreciated securities can provide you with additional tax
savings. You receive a federal income tax deduction for the
full fair market value of the securities, plus you avoid
