Barron’s names Monmouth a ‘best buy’ in college education

Monmouth College has been selected to appear in the 9th edition of Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education,” which is now available in bookstores and online.

Alumna leaves bequest of $1.2 million to Monmouth College

Monmouth College has received an unrestricted estate gift of $1.2 million from Karol Kluss Manley, a member of the class of 1949.

Two Monmouth College actors to compete at regional festival

Two Monmouth College students, who played lead roles in the recent Crimson Masque production of Tennessee Williams’ “A Streetcar Named Desire,” will represent the college in the 2007 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region III competition, Jan. 9-14 in Milwaukee.

Anstett recognized as MC’s Lincoln Laureate

Michelle Anstett, a Monmouth College senior from Peoria, was one of 52 students honored by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois on Oct. 28 at the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

Freitag gives new meaning to being a ‘first-string’ athlete

As one of the best offensive linemen in the Midwest Conference, Monmouth College’s Joe Freitag doesn’t play second fiddle to anyone. The Fighting Scots’ left tackle takes that pursuit of excellence with him off the field, too, as a member of the Monmouth College String Ensemble.

Despite a disappointing loss on the football field, Homecoming 2006 proved to be a memorable weekend for the hundreds of alumni who returned to campus.

Rare Air: Scots use pass to keep turkey

The first two plays that Monmouth ran against Knox College in the Bronze Turkey Game on Nov. 4 were predictable. A run by senior Dante Daniels was followed by another Daniels run. A joke was made in the pressbox that statistician Dan Nolan should change the default setting on his StatCrew computer program to “Run, No. 21.”
