MC SENIOR TO BE TRAVELING REP FOR PI PHI

Heather Klaes, a Monmouth College senior from Chicago,
was recently hired by the Pi Beta Phi fraternity to be a traveling consultant. Klaes, a past
president of the Monmouth chapter, was one of seven women nationally to be selected as a
consultant.
She is the daughter of John and Susan Klaes of Chicago.
Founded at Monmouth College in 1867, Pi Beta Phi was the
first national fraternity for women. Another women’s fraternity, Kappa Kappa Gamma, also has
its roots in Monmouth and was founded in 1870.
In other Monmouth College news:
• An art exhibit featuring the works of senior art majors
will go on display in the Len G. Everett Gallery in Hewes Library beginning April 14. It will
be on exhibit through May 5. Artists featured include Kate Blinstrup, Sleepy Hollow; Amy
Dixon, Joy; Emily O’Daniel-Houston, Roseville; Anthony Johnson, Elmwood; Kenneth W. Morris
Jr., Peoria; Yvette Claudia Velez, Brookfield; and Amy Wingo, Galesburg.
• The annual Honors Convocation will be held April 18 at 11
a.m. in the Auditorium. The event recognizes students for scholarship and leadership and also
honors scholarship donors.
• The annual Monmouth Cultural Festival will be held April 15
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Glennie Gymnasium. The event features continuous entertainment, and
will also include cultural exhibits and a variety of food from many countries.
