MC CHEERLEADERS TAKE SECOND AT MIDWEST UCA COMPETITION

The 16-member Monmouth College cheerleading
squad took second place in their division at the Universal Cheerleading Association Midwest
Division Competition held Dec. 16 in Peoria, Ill.
Over 20 teams competed in all divisions with
Ohio State University the only team to finish ahead of Monmouth in their division.
Approximately 80 Monmouth supporters attended the competition held at the Peoria Civic Center,
including some Fighting Scots football players wearing traditional Scottish kilts.
“It was great to see such tremendous support
from the students and parents,” said cheerleading coach Linda Norman. “The girls represented
the community and Monmouth College very well at the competition. I couldn’t be more proud of
this group.”
Fighting Scots cheerleaders competing
included: seniors Kala Feliksiak of Moline; Angela Reiner of Clarendon Hills; Stephanie Tibbs
of Pekin; and Meghan Roese of Washington; juniors Philicia Moredock of Peoria; and Kathy
Overbeek of Chicago Ridge; sophomores Liz Ruebush of Blandinsville; Gina Wolf of Erie; Bridget
Lee of Oswego; Channon Corzatt of Stronghurst; and Corey McCann of Oneida; and freshmen
Michelle Moore of Knoxville; Rachel Shirley of River Grove; Terra Nevitt of Lacon; Ashlee
Somogyi of Carol Stream; and Stacie Finlen of Normal.
