THREE MC STUDENTS NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP

Monmouth College has
nominated juniors Amanda Purchase, Kerri Adams and Will Grimes for the prestigious Truman
Scholarship.
Truman Scholarships are
awarded annually to 75-80 college students who plan to pursue careers in government or
elsewhere in public service and who wish to attend graduate or professional school to help
prepare for their careers. Successful applicants are eligible to receive $3,000 for their
senior year of undergraduate education and $27,000 for graduate studies. The finalists
selected for interview will be announced Feb. 12, 2002.
Purchase, an education
major, is the daughter of Jerry Purchase and Sheryl Wike, both of Abingdon. Adams, who is
majoring in business and public relations, is the daughter of Rick and Teri Adams of
Lexington. Grimes, a biology and physics major, is the son of Ron and Kathy Grimes of Virden.
