MC Students and Faculty Share Exhibit at Buchanan Center
Release Date: February 6, 2002
Artwork by Monmouth College faculty and
their students will be featured in an exhibit titled “Vision to Vision,” Feb. 16-March 23 at
the Buchanan Center for the Arts, 64 Public Square, Monmouth.
The exhibit, which will also include works
from three area schools, was the idea of Buchanan Center director Mike Di Fuccia, who wanted
to portray the influences that teachers have on their students.
An artist reception will be held at the
center Feb. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m., and will include commentary from the artists on their works.
There is no admission fee to that event or to the exhibit, which is open to the general public
during the Buchanan Center’s regular hours.
Representing Monmouth College will be art
department lecturer Carla Markwart, who will be exhibiting with Amparo Salcedo-Romero, a
junior from Bolivia; assistant professor Stacy Lotz, who will be showing with 2001 graduate
Matt Nelson of Morton; and assistant professor Marjorie Blackwell, who is paired with Beth
Blafka, a sophomore from Lyons, and Sue Ballard, a senior from Monmouth.
Art from Monmouth, Galesburg and Union high
schools will also be part of the exhibit. For more information, contact Di Fuccia at the
Buchanan Center at 309-734-3033.
