Ten MC Students Inducted into Spanish Honor Society

Monmouth College's Delta Zeta chapter of the national Spanish honor
society, Sigma Delta Pi, recently inducted 10 new members. The chapter was founded at Monmouth
in 1956, and students must meet strict national standards to be invited to membership.
New to the chapter this year are seniors Robyn Gores of
Sycamore, Elizabeth Gutierrez of Galesburg, Jodie Regnier of Lombard, Michelle Ruetz of
Knoxville and Michelle Vazquez of Waukegan, and juniors Cheris Beaty of Havana, Stephanie
Fritz of Galesburg, Jennifer Latchford of Rock Falls, Lindsey Paggi of Byron and Jennifer
Robbins of Biggsville.
Former inductees and current students at Monmouth include
seniors Trisha Foster of Morris, Jennifer Northway of St. Louis, Mo., and chapter president
Kristina Jozwiak of Elk Grove Village, and junior Dawn McRoberts of Shabbona.
Two students in the honor society have received nationally
competitive scholarships from Sigma Delta Pi. McRoberts received a scholarship to study in
Mexico, and Monmouth graduate John Stevens received a scholarship to study in Spain. MC
graduate Edwin Ubeda wrote a short story titled "Homenaje a Tereza" that was published in the
national student review of Sigma Delta called "El Cid."
