MC Women’s Fraternities Receive National Recognition

Release Date: March 25, 2002

Each summer, Monmouth College women’s fraternities traditionally attend regional conferences, national leadership conferences or national conventions. Last summer, Alpha Xi Delta and Pi Beta Phi received recognition from their respective national headquarters, while Kappa Kappa Gamma’s national convention will be held this summer.

The Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Xi Delta received many first-place awards at the Alpha Xi Delta National Convention in Washington, D.C. The chapter received a Financial Efficiency Award, which is presented to chapters that develop and follow an organized budget, and an Academic Achievement Award for having a chapter GPA of over 3.0. Also received was the Order of the Quill Award, which denotes outstanding chapter operations. Brandi McCoy, a senior from Belvidere, received the Jessie Pulcipher Communication Scholarship.

Pi Beta Phi’s Illinois Alpha chapter received a Jo Ann Minor Roderick Chapter of Excellence Award for being one of the top 10 chapters in the nation. The Monmouth group also received honorable mention for the Lucille Douglass Carson and Helen Anderson Lewis Award, recognizing philanthropic contributions of chapters to communities; the Centennial Award, recognizing the chapter that best instills in its pledge class high standards and knowledge and appreciation of Pi Beta Phi; and the Alumnae Province Presidents Award, which recognizes the chapter that best develops programming to meet the needs of senior members entering into the alumnae department.
