MONMOUTH, Ill. –
Three Monmouth
College alumni who have combined their theatrical and
improvisational talents will return to the college and present a
"Weekend of Improv" this Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23.
Recent Monmouth
graduates Mike Fotis and Joe Bozic, class of 1999, and Matt Fotis,
class of 2001, will perform a show based on their recent work in
Minneapolis on Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wells
Theater. The show is open to the public and admission is $2 at the
door.
The first half of the
Saturday evening show will feature "Ferrari McSpeedy," the work of Bozic
and Mike Fotis. Ferrari McSpeedy, an improvisational troupe, has been
performing in the Twin Cities since June of 2001, and their most recent
show, "Punk Rock Omaha" was named one of the Top 10 shows of 2002 by
City Pages critic Max Spacker. After a brief intermission, Matt Fotis
will join Ferrari McSpeedy as the trio works on pieces guaranteed to
entertain.
Then on Sunday, March
23, at 2 p.m. in the Wells Theater, the alumni will present a "Jam Show"
with members of Monmouth College’s own improv troupes–Anvil Head Theatre
and Scotch Tape. The Sunday afternoon show is free and open to the public.
According to Bill
Wallace, professor of speech communication and theater arts and director
of theater, the Fotis brothers and Bozic have been "hard at work
establishing themselves in the Minneapolis improv scene.
"It’s always fun to
have alumni return, and this should be a chance to see how far Joe, Matt,
and Mike have progressed since leaving the college," says Wallace. "It
should also be a great opportunity for our students to work with the trio
on stage."
