MONMOUTH, Ill. — Federico Sacasa, executive
director of Caribbean Latin American Action (CLAA), will deliver the
Wendell Whiteman Memorial Lecture on April 10 at 11 a.m. in Monmouth
College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. Sacasa’s lecture, which is the 11th
in the series, is free and open to the public.
“The Whiteman Lecture is one of the highlights of
our spring semester, and we are excited to host it in the newly-renovated
Dahl Chapel and Auditorium,” said college president Richard F. Giese.
“Federico Sacasa will share with our students and the general public his
perspective on economic development in the Caribbean.”

From 1988-2001, Sacasa worked for Bank of America
in a variety of senior management positions in San Francisco, London and
Miami. Most recently, he served his second tour as president of Latin
America for bank of America’s Global Corporate & Investment Bank, which is
based in Miami. He and his team were responsible for all of the bank’s
client relationships in the region, charged with originating comprehensive
solutions to meet their needs in capital raising, capital markets and
working capital.
Before going to Bank of America, Sacasa worked for
Banco de Credito del Peru (1982-88), Wells Fargo Bank (1975-82) and Banco
Nacional de Nicaragua (1972-73). He received an M.B.A from American

“Mr. Sacasa has had a rich and diverse career in
the banking world,” said Ralph Whiteman, one of the founders of the event.
“His experience in bringing the public and private sectors together should
be very informative to our audience. ”
Sacasa is a past president of CLAA, the Bankers
Association for Finance & Trade, the United States-Mexico Chamber of
Commerce (USMCOC) and the Pan American Society of California. He serves on
the board of the USMCOC, the Landegger Program in International Business
Diplomacy at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, the
Foundation for Management Education in Central America and St. Thomas
Episcopal Parish School.
The Whiteman Lecture is named in memory of Wendell
F. Whiteman, a Monmouth College alumnus and long-time executive of
Security Savings Bank in Monmouth. Sponsored by the Whiteman family, the
lecture annually brings a noted business executive or scholar to the MC
campus.
