MONMOUTH, Ill. — “Fifty Years of Marriage,” a charming musical that chronicles the ups and downs of a couple’s marriage, will be performed at Monmouth College on March 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. The show is free and open to the public.

The two-person cast of the musical features the husband-and-wife team of Dalene and Perry White. Dalene is the executive assistant to MC’s president and director of special projects, while Perry is the college’s vice president for advancement.

“Fifty Years of Marriage” is the story of a husband and wife from their wedding night to their 50th anniversary. The performance includes appropriate costuming as the couple grows older, as well as make-up reflecting the aging process.

“This musical can be appreciated by couples of any age,” said Dalene, “because they have either been through it or will go through it.”

Piano accompaniment for the musical will be provided by assistant professor of music Ian Moschenross.

Audiences in west central Illinois will remember the Whites from their recent performances at the college of “Pump Boys and Dinettes” and “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?” and their performance in “South Pacific” with the Prairie Players in Galesburg.

The Whites, who met while doing summer musical theater in Kansas City, will also take the show on the road on March 5, performing at the Fox Theater in McCook, Neb. Arranged by Floyd Hershberger, a 1949 graduate of Monmouth, their performance is sponsored by the Southwest Nebraska Community Theater Association, which Dalene said is “their equivalent of Monmouth’s Maple Leaf Community Concert Series.”
