MC’s Chorale, Wind Ensemble to perform two concerts
Release Date: February 1, 2005
MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Monmouth Chorale
and the Monmouth College Wind Ensemble will present two joint
concerts on Feb. 5 and Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Dahl Chapel and
Auditorium as part of the college’s celebration of Fine Arts Days.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
Each concert will serve as the final event of a day-long program for
prospective fine arts students, who will visit campus to audition
for scholarships in music, theater and art. They will also have the
opportunity to attend master classes in piano and voice, attend
rehearsals and meet with music faculty.
Stephen Richter, lecturer in music and director of instrumental
music activities, will direct the Wind Ensemble, which will open
each concert with some familiar literature from previous
performances this year.
Following the Wind Ensemble’s performance, the Chorale, the
college’s most highly auditioned choral ensemble, will perform under
the direction of Shane Lynch, director of choral activities. The
Chorale will also feature some familiar literature as well as the
ensemble’s debut of Mendelssohn’s “Psalm 43” and James Erb’s
arrangement of “Shenandoah.”
