Outstanding student musicians to be featured at MC honors
recital

MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Monmouth College music department will present
its spring honors recital March 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch
Performance Hall of the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
The recital, which will feature solo performances in woodwind,
voice, piano and percussion, as well as a woodwind trio performing
chamber music, is free and open to the public.
Auditions for the recital were held in February and were adjudicated
by Monmouth College emeritus music faculty members Richard Griffiths
and Michael Sproston.
“This program is an excellent opportunity to hear not only some of
our outstanding music students from various applied studios, but
also some very talented students from across the disciplines at the
college,” said Ian J. Moschenross, assistant professor of music.
Students selected to perform instrumental recitals include: freshman
Julia Barna, Darien, on flute; sophomore Jamie Cucci, St. Charles,
on flute and piano; freshman Cassie Henry, Blue Island, on piano;
junior Brad Dix, Farmington, on percussion; and the woodwind trio of
Cucci on flute; junior Stacey Heinrich, Hampshire, on oboe; and
junior Mike DeCaro, Elburn, on clarinet. Vocal soloists include
sopranos Mary O’Connor, a sophomore from Joliet, and freshman
Whitney Shepherd, Galesburg.
