MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College has donated $12,000 to the Maple
Leaf Community Concert Series for its upcoming 2005-2006 season.
According to Jim McCurdy, finance committee co-chair for the popular
subscription series, Monmouth College's donation funds approximately
one-third of its annual budget, with the remaining revenues being
derived equally from ticket sales and other corporate sponsorships.
The college, which also hosts most of the concerts in its Dahl
Chapel and Auditorium, has been the major sponsor for each of the
series' 14 years.
In presenting this year's gift, MC president Richard Giese said,
"The Maple Leaf concert series has become a staple of cultural
enrichment not only for the college community, but for the city of
Monmouth and the surrounding area as well. The standard it has set
for attracting world-class musicians to western Illinois is
unmatched, and Monmouth College is committed to helping perpetuate
its success."
Vicki Hennenfent, concert series president, said the board is
grateful not only for the college's financial support, but for the
hours of volunteer time put in by college faculty, staff and
students who serve on planning committees.
