River clean up is topic of next Monmouth AssociatesRelease Date:
March 13, 2007
MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College student Danielka Briceno will lead the
next Monmouth Associates gathering on March 22 at noon in the Whiteman-McMillan
Highlander Room in the college’s Stockdale Center.
Briceno, a senior from Miami, Fla., is one of 16 students who traveled to
Kentucky over Spring Break to help clean up the Ohio River. The students, who
were accompanied by faculty member Sam-Sang Jo, participated in a project
organized by Living Lands and Waters. Its founder, Chad Pregracke, has also been
involved in extensive work on the Mississippi River and has given two public
lectures at Monmouth College.
The program is free; a buffet lunch featuring costs $7. Reservations can be made
by calling 309-457-2316 by March 19 or by going on-line at
www.monm.edu/alumni/associates.htm.
A free shuttle van will transport passengers from downtown to all luncheons. The
van leaves from the northeast quadrant of the Public Square at approximately
11:55 a.m., and returns immediately following the program. Shuttle reservations
should be made by calling the above number.
