Russia is topic of MC’s next International LuncheonRelease Date:

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College English professor Mary Bruce will present
the next International Luncheon lecture on March 28 at noon in the
Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.
Titled “Russia: Flavorful and Complicated as Borscht,” Bruce’s talk will
highlight her recent semester there as a Fulbright Scholar. It will include
slides of Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as a few rural towns and Russian
universities. Bruce will discuss the nation’s complex culture, as well as its
“rapid and brutal” transition to capitalism.
A buffet lunch, featuring international foods, is available. A meal ticket may
be purchased for $6.50 in the food service office in Stockdale Center. Lunch
reservations must be made in advance by contacting professor Sue Holm at
