MC student group to present Environmental Children’s
FairRelease Date:
March 26, 2007
MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College’s Students for Environmental
Awareness (SEA) will sponsor an Environmental Chidren’s Fair on March 31
from 1 to 4 p.m. on the fourth floor of the college’s Haldeman-Thiessen
Science Center.
The fair, which is free and open to the public and geared for children
ages 3 to 12, will focus on “El Agua,” with activities and information
relating to oceans, rivers, lakes and glaciers.
“This event will be set up as an open house, where parents and children
can move from room to room as they please and leave whenever they like,”
said SEA member Kelsey Cole, a sophomore from Grayslake. “The purpose of
the fair is to expose children to the environment of the world. This is
valuable experience that will hopefully foster care and appreciation in
children for something they may not have daily contact with.”
Children will be able to create “cardboard fishies,” recreate an oil spill
and watch “March of the Penguins,” among other activities.
