MONMOUTH, Ill. — “Latin America: Shift to the Left” will be the topic of the Feb. 27 Great Decisions program at Monmouth College.
Free and open to the public, the nine-week series meets Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of the college’s Stockdale Center. It is sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, a non-partisan, non-governmental association that works to increase Americans’ understanding of significant foreign policy issues.
Amy de Farias, assistant professor of history, will lead the program, which she will preface with a 30-minute overview. An hour of group discussion will follow.
Among the issues covered will be factors that have prevented the U.S. and Latin American countries from forging strong relationships and what challenges confront U.S. policy in Latin America.
The program will be the sixth in the series, which will conclude March 19. For more information, contact Ira Smolensky at 309-457-2102 or de Farias at 309-457-2243.
