MONMOUTH, Ill. — Patrick Lupton of Lake Forest, Ill., has joined the
staff at Monmouth College in the new position of regional director of
admission.
Lupton has a strong background in higher education, having worked at
Ellis College, Lake Forest College and Kendall College in recent years,
after concluding two decades in the publishing business. At the latter
two colleges, he worked in admission-related positions. He comes to MC
from Kendall, a top-rated college for culinary arts, hospitality
management, business and education in downtown Chicago, where he was a
senior director of external admission.
Lupton will be charged with increasing Monmouth College’s
out-of-state enrollment, in particular the states bordering Illinois and
areas of the Southeast and Southwest.
"It’s important for the college to be able to bring the experiences
of out-of-state students into the classroom," said Lupton, who earned a
bachelor’s degree in political science from Benedictine University in
1971. "That allows for a more diverse conversation. That diversity of
though has a rippling effect, carrying through the conversations the
students have in their dormitory life and across campus."
At the same time, Lupton said, the out-of-state students benefit by
being connected to a "phenomenal liberal arts college."
He will also help develop and support networks of alumni for
referring and identifying potential prospective students for Monmouth.
"It’s so important to work with the alumni," he said. "We want to
listen to each and every one of them, take their suggestions and go with
them."
Lupton, who will continue to live in Lake Forest, and his wife,
Therese, have three adult children.
