Michael Sostarecz hired for
tenure-track position at MC

MONMOUTH, Ill.
— Monmouth
College’s newest tenure-track professor is a familiar face on campus.
Michael Sostarecz, who joined the MC faculty in 2006 as a visiting
professor of physics, has accepted a position in the college’s
mathematics and computer science department. He will teach such courses
as calculus, math modeling and Introduction to Liberal Arts.
"The department is excited about working with Mike," said associate
professor Marjorie Bond, who teaches in the mathematics and computer
science department and chaired the search committee. "His strong
interest in research with undergraduates will enhance the experiences of
our majors, and the interdisciplinary nature of Mike’s research will
strengthen our department’s relationship with other departments."
Sostarecz earned his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in mathematics
from Pennsylvania State University. Before coming to Monmouth, he most
recently taught at the University of Delaware.
Sostarecz’s wife, Audra, is an assistant professor of chemistry at
Monmouth.
