MONMOUTH, Ill. — Two faculty members and one of their spouses
will present Monmouth College’s first International Luncheon lecture of the new
academic year on Sept. 24 at noon in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of
the Stockdale Center.
The program’s title, "The Scotland of Macbeth and of William
Wallace," has two meanings, as its describes the locations visited by
the presenters and the student group they led. It also happens to name
one of the faculty members, theatre professor Bill Wallace, who was
accompanied on the trip by his wife, Sandy, and by Marlo Belschner,
associate professor of English.
The trip involved "looking for Nessie," visiting castles associated
with Shakespeare’s plays and seeing the Wallace Monument. Cities visited
included Perth, Stirling and Inverness.
A buffet lunch, featuring international foods, is available. A meal
ticket may be purchased for $7.25 in the food service office in
Stockdale Center. Lunch reservations must be made in advance by calling
309-457-2149, but anyone may attend the presentation without obligation
to purchase the meal.
