About Off-Campus Studies

Monmouth College considers off-campus study, including both international and domestic experiences, to be an opportunity for students to enhance their liberal arts education. Experience off-campus serves as a significant complement to the major or to the General Education curriculum and to the mission of the college. Monmouth College makes available to its students programs which are intellectually challenging, aesthetically inspiring, and diverse in setting. The off-campus experience enables students to explore different perspectives on the human condition in a global community.

Upon their return to campus, students often say their experience off-campus changed their lives, preparing them to live and work in our increasingly multi-cultural world, stimulating academic discipline, as students learn and work in a different system, and encouraging independence and interpersonal development. Studying in another country affords many rare opportunities, including language immersion and the chance to experience firsthand a country's vibrant history, art and culture. Employers in our global economy seek the skills cultivated by overseas engagement. You develop a sense of teamwork, innovation and flexibility. Study abroad is an adventure that helps students develop their self-confidence and adaptability.
