Monmouth improved upon its
third-place finish the previous year as the Fighting Scots turned in their highest team
finish ever in women's cross country. Two sophomores, Carrie Knauer and Kathleen Yarger,
earned All-Conference medals as Monmouth finished second behind only defending champion
Grinnell. Knauer placed 12th and Yarger 15th as Monmouth placed five runners in
the top 28 on the 5000-meter course at Cornell (Mt. Vernon,IA) despite snow, wind and
bitter cold weather conditions.
