Roger Haynes '82 continues to build the Fighting Scots team into a force in the Midwest Conference. Haynes is no stranger to running events, serving as the head track coach at Monmouth College since 1984. His 2008 women's cross country team won the program's first conference title and produced a school-record five all-conference performers. Monmouth has had at least one all-conference performer each year since 2002.

 MWC PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

Scots sweep weekly cross country awards
Image of Mary Kate Beyer.September 30, 2008

A pair of outstanding performances by the Monmouth College cross country team has led to Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors for the Scots’ Mary Kate Beyer (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) and Scott Sheller (Morton, Ill./Morton).

Beyer continued her torrid running, finishing sixth in the field of 315 runners at the 27-team Brissman-Lundeen Invitational which included Division II and other scholarship schools last Saturday. Running on an unfamiliar course at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., the sophomore’s 6K time of 22:40.4 ranks her tops in the MWC this season and was just 21 seconds off her personal best.
