ROGER
HAYNES has completed his 24th season as the indoor track & field coach at Monmouth and his
eighth as the head coach of the women's program. Under Haynes'
direction, Monmouth's track program has experienced unparalleled success. The dominant
team in the Midwest Conference since 1990, the Fighting Scots women have won
11 of the
last 14 indoor track & field conference titles.
Monmouth's women have won 105
indoor individual and relay conference titles and the program can
claim 32 NCAA Indoor National Championship
qualifiers and 7 indoor All-Americans. A former school record holder in the high jump,
Haynes graduated from Monmouth in 1982 and still holds the college record in the javelin
throw (205'8"). In 2007, Haynes was named the Division III
Men's National Coach of the Year for the indoor season by the U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Monmouth M-Club Hall of Fame in 1997. Haynes
also serves as an instructor in the Department of Physical Education.

announced that Monmouth College’s Roger Haynes
was named the 2007 Midwest Region Men’s Indoor Track Coach of the
Year in Division III.

Monmouth’s Babos named MWC Performer of the Week

Monmouth College senior thrower Jenny Babos
(Leland, Ill./Somonauk) had two provisional national-qualifying
marks at last weekend’s Nike/Impact Sports meet at Platteville,
Wis., and was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week
in women’s indoor track and field.
Babos finished third in the weight throw with a toss of
51’3-1/2", just four inches shy of her career-best. She heaved the
shot put a personal and conference-best 42’0". The senior earned her
second Performer of the Week honor this season.
A public relations major, Babos is the daughter of George Babos
of Leland.

Monmouth College senior thrower Jenny Babos (Leland, Ill./Somonauk)
was dominating in last weekend’s Midwest Invitational at Monmouth
College and was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week
in women’s indoor track and field.
Babos blasted her competition in the weight throw. The senior
slung the weight a provisional-qualifying 51’5, beating her nearest
competitor by six feet.
The mark ranks her 10th in the nation. She
then threw a personal-best 40’2-1/4 in the shot to finish second,
less than four inches behind the winner.
White named MWC Performer of the Week

Thanks to a provisional qualifying performance in her first meet,
Monmouth College track athlete Jessica White (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg)
was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week in women’s
indoor track and field.
White, an All-American pole vaulter last season, took first place at
last weekend’s Knox College Quadrangular with a vault of 11’10. Her mark
is ranked second in the nation. She is now provisionally qualified for
the NCAA Indoor National Championships in March.
