ROGER
HAYNES enters his 25th season as the men's outdoor track & field coach at Monmouth and his
ninth as the head coach of the women's program. Under Haynes'
direction, Monmouth's track program has experienced unparalleled success. The dominant
team in the Midwest Conference since 1990, the Fighting Scots women have won
10 of the
last 12 outdoor track & field conference titles.
Monmouth's women have won 101
outdoor individual and relay conference titles and the program can claim 87 NCAA
Outdoor National Championship
qualifiers and 31 outdoor All-Americans. A former school record holder in the high jump,
Haynes graduated from Monmouth in 1982 and still holds the college record in the javelin
throw (205'8"). In 2007, Haynes was named the Division III
Men's National Coach of the Year for the indoor season by the U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Monmouth M-Club Hall of Fame in 1997. Haynes
also serves as an instructor in the Department of Physical Education.

Three Scots tracksters
receive conference honors
Release Date: May 6, 2008Senior thrower Jenny Babos (Leland,Ill./Somonauk) faired well
against the 26-team field to take the Performer of the Week honor in
women’s field events. Babos posted a pair of NCAA
provisional-qualifying marks. She placed third in the discus with a
mark of 147’9 and improved her provisional- and season-best mark by
nearly a foot in the shot put, finishing fourth at 43’7-3/4. She
also placed seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 138’8.

Three Scots tracksters
receive conference honors
Release Date: May 6, 2008
Junior hurdle specialist Shannon Turczyn (Peru,
Ill./LaSalle-Peru) ran against competitors from 26 schools and
automatically qualified for the NCAA outdoor nationals to capture
the Performer of the Week honor in women’s track. Turczyn’s
100-meter hurdle time of 14.29 broke her own school record and
automatically qualified her for the national meet while turning in
the nation’s third-best time in the event. She also ran a leg on the
Scots’ second-place 4x100 relay and clocked a personal-best 12.64 in
the 100- to tie for the conference lead.

MC athletes named MWC Performers of the Week
Release Date: April 16, 2008
Staab turned in outstanding times in the distance events despite
cold, windy conditions at the Macomb meet. The sophomore was the
first Division III runner to cross the finish line in the
5,000-meters, clocking a lifetime best of 19:13.26 to finish sixth.
She ran a 5:13.41 in the 1,500- to place 19th.

MC athletes named MWC Performers of the Week
Release Date: April 16, 2008White continued her climb up the national rankings in the pole
vault. The senior tied for first with a vaulter from Western
Illinois University. White cleared a season-best and
provisional-qualifying 12’5-1/2 to move her into a tie for third in
the national rankings.

MC athletes named MWC Performers of the Week
Release Date: April 8, 2008
Turczyn had her best meet of the outdoor season, turning in a
national provisional qualifying time and two conference-best times.
The junior speedster won the 100-meter hurdles and improved her
provisional time, breaking the tape in 14.43. She placed seventh in
the 200-meters, logging a time of 26.77, and clocked a 12.74 in the
100- prelims. Her 100- hurdle and 100- dash times rank her first in
the MWC.

Release Date: April 8, 2007
Clennon improved her two conference-best marks while winning the
high jump and javelin. The senior cleared a personal-best 5’5-3/4
which also provisionally qualifies her for next month’s NCAA outdoor
championships. The mark ranks her second in the nation. Clennon then
logged a personal-best in the javelin, winning the event with a
throw of 115’9.
