Monmouth College senior distance man Zach Barr (Roseville, Ill./Roseville) and classmate, Tim Frank (Farmington, Ill./Farmington) tuned up for this weekend’s Midwest Conference meet with outstanding efforts in Wisconsin to claim Performers of the Week in men’s track and field.

If being named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week is any indication, the Monmouth College track team is ready for this weekend’s MWC Meet at Knox College. Senior Jeff Rebholz (Henry, Ill./Henry-Senachwine), junior Megan McKenna (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) and sophomore Shannon Turczyn (Peru, Ill./LaSalle-Peru) were named MWC Performers of the Week for their accomplishments at last Saturday’s Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational held at Anderson (Ind.) University.

Rebholz picked up his third men’s field event POW honor this season after winning the weight throw with a school-record mark of 61’4-3/4”. The mark bested his own school record by nearly three feet and also automatically qualified him for the national meet. He also took first in the shot put with a throw of 54’10-1/4”. He is currently ranked second in the nation in the weight throw and is third in the shot put.

McKenna was rewarded with her second POW in the women’s field events. She tied teammate Jessica White for first in the pole vault with a mark of 11’6”, just missing a personal-best by a quarter-inch. McKenna then took first in both the triple jump (36’2-3/4”) and long jump (17’3-1/2”). Both distances lead the conference.

Turczyn was a first time POW winner in the women’s track events after breaking the school record in the 55-meter hurdles. Her time of 8.44 was also a provisional qualifying time and ranks her tops in the league. She also ran a leg on the winning 4x200 relay and was sixth in the 200-meter dash.
