Basketball Publication Nets National Award

A commemorative program designed to help Monmouth College celebrate its basketball centennial was named the runner-up in a national contest for special publications for college sports.

The 16-page souvenir program, which was available for the Jan. 29, 2000, game between the Fighting Scots and Carroll College, featured a history of the men’s basketball program since 1900 and included firsthand accounts of some of the Scots’ most memorable games. Former players interviewed for the program included George Trotter, Bob McLoskey, Roger Sander, Jeff Houston and Lance Castle.

Copies of the program are still available by contacting the MC athletic office (457-2176) or the sports information office (457-2322). The college staff that prepared the program included Barry McNamara, Dan Nolan and Jeff Rankin.

The annual contest was sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
