Jones Captures MWC Player of the Week Honors

Melissa Jones of Monmouth College has been named this week’s Midwest Conference Women’s Player of the Week.

The 5’10 sophomore center from Port Byron, Ill., (East Moline H.S.) led the Scots to a win in their only conference game last week, a 60-55 road victory over Illinois College.

Jones had game highs in points (20), rebounds (11), steals (3) and blocks (3). If that weren’t enough, with the Scots holding a mere 56-55 lead Jones went 4-for-4 from the free throw line to ice the game. For the season Jones is leading the team in scoring at 15.8 ppg and is second in rebounds at 7.2 rpg.

Monmouth is 4-2 overall and leads the MWC with a 2-0 mark heading into the holiday break.
