Kim Olson Named MWC Women's Soccer Player of the
Week
Release Date: September 12, 2000
Kim Olson, a freshman
forward from Finlayson, Minn., who attended West Chicago High School, was named this
season’s first Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week after her spectacular
collegiate debut.
All Olson did in her first three
matches was tally three goals in each contest, giving her a hat trick of hat tricks and
leading Monmouth to its first-ever 3-0 start. The Fighting Scots have scored 18 goals in
their three victories to fall just one goal shy of their total output of 19 in 16
matches last season. They’ve already equaled last year’s victory total, and Olson needs
just three goals to tie the single-season record of 12 set by Tisha Kimoto in 1998.
Olson not only scores often, she
scores efficiently and sometimes even spectacularly as well. The strong and speedy
striker has recorded her nine goals while playing just more than half of each game, and
among the goals on her resume are a header off a corner kick and a 27-yard blast over a
surprised goalkeeper.
The Fighting Scots are in action
today at Aurora University and will return home this weekend for MWC matches Saturday
and Sunday at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
